Getting kids back to school safely and why it important

Impacts to Family

Student families have been profoundly impacted by students staying home, families are having to accommodate students staying home while juggling the demands of work. Continue to refine our processes and standards to get more students back in safe campuses and classrooms.

Emotional Health

Our students need the relationships they build with their classmates, by continuing to isolate kids from the campus we risk their emotional and physical health.

Impacts to the district student body

The projections for the coming school year indicate fewer upper-grade students will be enrolled post-COVID, and we also expect a bounce back of the number of pre-k, kindergarten and first grade students enrolled.  For the older students we could lose the ability to assure student well-being,  adequate classroom resources and the availability of support staff, including teachers, to support all eligible campus students because of reduced resources.  For the younger students we have to adapt to a student body missing a year of instruction and preparation.

Learning Gaps

Data we are collecting shows that many of our kids are missing key learning objectives at all grade levels, prioritizing a plan to make up for this lost time preserves all of the educational aspirations of our students and their families
